Signature

By Frederik Drost

Signature is a watch term used to refer to a unique feature that an individual watchmaker adds to their timepieces. This feature is usually a particular design, engraving or decoration that is only found in a maker’s particular creations. It is meant to identify a watch as the work of a specific watchmaker or company, and can be a symbol, motif, or any other type of detail that is meant to act as a signature. Signature is often seen as a mark of quality and craftsmanship, and is a way for watchmakers to set their timepieces apart from others.
