Petite sonnerie

By Frederik Drost

Petite sonnerie is a type of repeating mechanism found in watches and clocks, where the hours and the quarter-hours are marked out by a series of bells, chimes, or gongs. It is usually activated by a lever or button on the watch or clock and can provide a pleasing and useful sound. Petite sonnerie also allows the wearer to keep track of the time without having to look at the clock. It is often found in antique clocks and is a popular feature in luxury watches.
