Chimes

By Frederik Drost

Chimes are a type of watch complication that produces a sound when the time is changing. They are usually located on the hour or half-hour and can be heard from a distance. This feature is especially useful for people who need to be aware of the exact time, such as sailors and farmers. Chimes may either be mechanical, with a hammer striking a bell, or electronic, with a digital sound produced by a speaker.
