Fluorescence

By Frederik Drost

Fluorescence is a type of luminous afterglow which is seen in watches that are made with a fluorescent material. This material absorbs energy from a light source, such as ultraviolet or daylight, and then re-emits it in the form of visible light. The glow is often very intense and long-lasting, lasting up to several hours after the light source has been removed. Fluorescence is used in a variety of ways in watches, from the luminescent hands and hour markers to the entire case and strap. It is also often used to enhance the appearance of a watch by giving it a unique look and feel.
