Tourbillon

By Frederik Drost

A tourbillon is a mechanical watch feature that works to increase the accuracy of the timepiece by compensating for the effects of gravity. The tourbillon is composed of a rotating cage that holds the balance wheel and escapement. This rotation helps to average out any positional errors that may occur due to the effects of gravity on the watch. The tourbillon is considered one of the most complicated and intricate watch components and is a symbol of excellence in watchmaking craftsmanship.
