Step motor

By Frederik Drost

A step motor is an electromechanical device that converts electrical pulses into discrete mechanical movements. It is used to control the speed and position of an object in a precise, repeatable fashion. Step motors typically have a high torque-to-inertia ratio, allowing them to start and stop quickly, as well as change direction rapidly. They are often used in robotics, CNC machines, 3D printers, and automated factory processes. Step motors offer a higher degree of accuracy and reliability than other types of motors, and can be readily customized for a variety of applications.
