Power Reserve Indicator

By Frederik Drost

A power reserve indicator is a feature found on some watches which allows the wearer to monitor the amount of energy remaining in the watch’s power source. It is usually displayed on the watch face as a meter or gauge which indicates the remaining power in the battery or mainspring. The indicator allows the wearer to gauge the time until the watch needs to be re-wound or recharged, helping to avoid unexpected stoppage of the watch. Additionally, some power reserve indicators feature an alarm to remind the wearer when it is time to re-wind or recharge the watch.
