Longitude is a term used to describe the angular distance of a location east or west of the Prime Meridian, which is the line of longitude that runs through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England. Longitude is measured in angular degrees, with the Prime Meridian at 0° and the 180th meridian at 180°. It is one of the two coordinates used to pinpoint a location on the Earth’s surface, the other being latitude.
