Etablisseur

By Frederik Drost

Etablisseur is a specialized watchmaking term used to describe a watchmaker who performs the most intricate and delicate work in assembling a watch. This term is usually used to refer to a watchmaker who is responsible for the assembly and adjustment of the movement and its components. This could include adjusting the movement’s parts, such as the balance wheel, mainspring, and escapement, as well as assembling the case and bracelet. An Etablisseur is also often responsible for cleaning and polishing the watch components and testing the watch’s accuracy. A skilled Etablisseur must have the technical knowledge and expertise to ensure the watch is assembled and adjusted to the highest standards.
