End Shake

By Frederik Drost

End Shake is the amount of movement that occurs between the balance staff and its pivots. It is a result of the jeweled pivots being slightly loose in the staff and is caused by imperfections in the watch’s construction. End Shake can affect the accuracy of a watch, as it can cause the balance staff to move and cause the watch to lose time. End Shake can be corrected by adjusting the jeweled pivots to reduce the amount of movement.
