Dichroism

By Frederik Drost

Dichroism is a term used to describe the optical phenomenon of a material exhibiting different colors or absorption bands when viewed from different angles or in different light sources. This effect is often seen in gemstones, where the same stone can appear to have different colors depending on the angle from which it is viewed. Dichroism is used in watchmaking to give the timepiece a more colorful and vibrant appearance.
