Chronometer

By Frederik Drost

A chronometer is a high-precision timekeeping device. It is designed to accurately measure time and is certified by an independent body such as the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) in Switzerland. It is usually used in the maritime industry, but is also popular with watch enthusiasts. Chronometers are often used to measure the accuracy of a watch over a given period of time, and can be used to test the accuracy of a watch’s movement. Chronometers are typically made with higher quality parts than a regular watch and are often more expensive.
