Breguet overcoil

By Frederik Drost

Breguet overcoils are a specific type of watch balance spring used by the Swiss watchmaker Breguet. These springs are made of a single strand of metal and have a curved, or “overcoiled” shape. This shape is designed to increase the accuracy and stability of a watch’s timekeeping. The curves of the overcoil also help to reduce the amount of positional errors that can occur when the watch is in different positions. Breguet overcoils are renowned for their high quality and are found in many of the world’s finest watches.
