Equation Of Time

By Frederik Drost

Equation of Time is an astronomical phenomenon that describes the difference between the mean solar time and the actual solar time. It is most commonly expressed as the difference between the mean solar time and the true solar time, measured in minutes and seconds. This is a result of the Earth’s non-uniform rotation and its tilt on its axis. The Equation of Time is often used to synchronize clocks and watches with the Earth’s actual position in its orbit around the sun.
