Cleavage

By Frederik Drost

Cleavage is a term used to describe the amount of separation between the two parts of a watch. It is a measure of how exposed the movement is when viewed from the side. Generally, cleavage is expressed as a percentage, with higher cleavage values indicating a larger gap between the two parts of the watch. Cleavage is an important factor when it comes to determining the quality of a watch as it affects how easily the watch can be serviced and maintained.
