Resonance

By Frederik Drost

Resonance is a watchmaking term that refers to a mechanism used to even out the power delivery of a watch. This is done by having two mainspring barrels in the movement that are linked together, allowing for energy to be transferred from one barrel to the other. This results in a consistent power delivery to the watch, which helps to keep the watch running more accurately. Resonance has been around for centuries and is still used in modern watches.
