Hand-setting

By Frederik Drost

Hand-setting refers to the process of manually setting the hands on a watch or clock. This is typically done by winding the crown or pushing the stem in and out to move the hands to the desired time. Hand-setting is a delicate procedure and should be done with care, as any misalignment of the hands can cause the watch to run incorrectly. It is particularly important for mechanical watches, as the hands must be properly aligned for the gears to mesh properly and for the watch to keep accurate time.
